Two photogenic CBD cocktails (and one mocktail) to shake up 4/20.
You don’t need to blaze to celebrate cannabis this year.
If you’re hosting 4/20-themed festivities, you and your guests will surely have plenty of cannabis on hand – but not everyone loves to get high, and your group eager revelers is sure to be thirsty, too. While a solo weeknight of CBD-rich self-care might do with a simple glass of Sauvignon Blanc, 4/20 calls for something a little more dressed up.
If you’re anything like me, your mixology skills might reach just as far as opening that bottle of SB, but friend of Eaze and Los Angeles cannabis mixologist Satbhajan (Sabi) Khalsa, of the Cocktail Cook and Funmakers, has kindly offered some beginner-friendly recipes and advice for the burgeoning cannabis cocktailer.
If you’ve tried creating cannabis cocktails in the past and found yourself sipping on a not-so-tasty oil slick atop with a funky flavor profile, Sabi recommends choosing, “earthier cbd oils. I prefer a more herbal or vegetal flavor profile – mint, basil, tea, rosemary, cucumber, or Serrano chile – all work well.”

She follows by explaining that, ‘in terms of considering the oil base itself, “cbd oils based in coconut oil such as almond, coconut, rose, and orange blossom can work well as more fragrant flavors.” Lastly, Sabi recommends, “always shaking the cocktail with ice so that the cbd oil becomes dispersed evenly and does not keep its oily consistency.”
Here are two of Sabi’s favorite, amateur-friendly (and photogenic cocktails) plus a mocktail that will have you tending bar like a pro.
